From the desk of Dr. Sandra Lee:
I have been a board certified Dermatologist for well over a decade, and I have treated tens of thousands of blemishes, studied thousands of cases, and most importantly, connected with hundreds of patients, each with their own stories, struggles and skincare concerns. People have walked into my office with every type of skin condition – some only looking for preventative advice and treatments, and others with more serious and life-altering conditions. While every patient and case is completely unique, there are universal lessons that apply to anyone struggling or unhappy with their skin.
In today’s world, it is hard to ignore the increased stress on our outward appearance and the media’s idea of beauty. I have seen that acne, like any skin or health condition, can really impact the way that we look at ourselves. Acne is by no means life threatening, but for many of us it is a threat to our emotional well-being. A bad breakout often affects our self-esteem and the confidence we carry. It has always been important to me that all the people in my life – patients, family, friends and supporters – all live with the notion that beauty has nothing to do with our appearance but everything to do with our confidence. For many, having healthy, radiant skin can be just the confidence boost we need to shine and be the best and most beautiful version of ourselves, inside and out.
My work on social media as Dr. Pimple Popper has given me an amazing platform to connect with so many people all over the world. Through these networks, I have had the pleasure of hearing your stories and listening to all of your concerns. While creating a product line has always been on my mind, it was the support and positivity of the Dr. Pimple Popper community (ie you “Popaholics) that really inspired me to make SLMD Skincare a reality.
There is so much to learn and understand about your skin and how to care for it, but I know that seeing a Dermatologist is not possible for everyone. I also know that with so many brands and new fads on the market, finding the right products can be confusing and downright daunting. I developed SLMD to bridge this gap between a doctor’s visit and a trip down the skincare aisle by providing safe and effective solutions that I would actually prescribe to patients in my own Dermatology office. My mission is to cut the clutter and put ingredients that work into the hands of the people who need it most.
I have full confidence in these formulations and hope that SLMD can not only find a place in your skincare regimen, but also contribute to you finding your best and most confident self. I am excited and forever thankful to be a part of your skincare journey.
