Great question. Dr. Sandra Lee is a board-certified dermatologist based in Southern California, but she’s known by most as Dr. Pimple Popper.
That’s because, in 2015, Dr. Lee started a YouTube page to let people in on her world of dermatology. She knew this field of medicine was super visual. So she wanted to show people exactly what she saw on a daily basis — consults, surgeries, in-office procedures. And boy, did we see it all. Sure, Dr. Lee had a hunch people might find her videos interesting, but she soon found a massive online subculture of people who couldn’t get enough of them. (World, meet the Popaholics.)
Today, she’s posted thousands of videos on YouTube, Facebook, Instagram & Snapchat, and she’s the star of her own television show. Now, almost 10 million are watching on a daily basis. But her aim’s still the same —to help teach people how to rock their own skin. Dr. Lee explains, “At the end of the day, the reason for all of this is really to educate people, and help them take better care of their own body and skin.”
Dr. Lee can’t stand the idea that anyone would go without access to that education. Without access to a dermatologist or to the skincare treatments they need. And that’s just what inspired the creation of her line of products, SLMD. It’s a dermatologist’s approach to skincare. So the formulas have all of the same effective ingredients Dr. Lee would prescribe to her patients. It’s just one more way she’s popping skincare problems around the world and aiming to create happy, healthy skin for all. Yes, please.
