I’ve been working as a board-certified dermatologist for more than fifteen years, treating hundreds of unique conditions and connecting with thousands of patients. Each patient has their own story, struggle, and skin concerns. My job is to help those people understand what their skin condition is, why it's happening, identify the treatments that will help, and explain why they’ll work.
Embodying Dr. Pimple Popper across social media has given me an amazing platform to connect with hundreds of thousands of individuals all over the world — far more people than I would be able to see in my Southern California office. When I discovered that I could use social media to share information that might really help people deal with their skin struggles, I began sharing skincare tips and ingredient recommendations and the response was overwhelming.
All of this helped me to realize that there was something seriously missing in the world of skincare. There is so much to learn and understand about your skin and how to care for it. Unfortunately, I know that seeing a dermatologist isn’t a reality for everyone. And with so many brands and new fads on the market, trying to find a solution on your own can be confusing, expensive, and very frustrating. I too felt frustrated, knowing that us dermatologists have so much knowledge that can truly help people, but no way to get it into the hands of the people who need it most.
Creating a skincare line has always been a dream of mine, but I knew it needed to be much more than putting my name on a bottle. In 2016, I began formulating SLMD Skincare as a way to bridge this gap between a dermatology appointment and wandering through the skincare aisle. That’s why I created systems to treat acne, body acne, keratosis pilaris, and dry skin, with much more on the way! My mission is to empower everyone to feel confident not only in their own skin, but in their skin health journey.
I hope that I can provide the knowledge, tools, and products you need to embrace your best skin and your best self. I want your experience with SLMD to feel like a trip to the dermatologist’s office, no appointment necessary.
