FROM DR. SANDRA LEE
“Most of the patients that I see in my office that have those bumps on their arms that look like chicken skin have no idea what it is. And those people with rough, bumpy skin, razor bumps or ingrown hairs all know that these things are not painful or life threatening but can be really annoying and effect one's confidence and self-esteem. Glycolic Acid is one of the most effective exfoliators we use as dermatologists to improve the appearance of bumpy skin so I wanted to create a system that used this powerful ingredient to exfoliate but also to leave skin moisturized and healthy.”
Dr. Sandra Lee (aka Dr. Pimple Popper)
WHAT IS KERATOSIS PILARIS?
What does it look like? What is it caused by? Why do I have it?
It often appears as small, rough bumps on the surface of your skin, that can be red, itchy and uncomfortable. For others, it could look like white goosebumps, hence the nickname “chicken skin”. They’re often bumpy, almost like acne, but can also be dry and itchy like eczema.

WHAT IS KERATOSIS PILARIS?
What does it look like? What is it caused by? Why do I have it?
When too much keratin (a protective skin protein) builds up on the surface of your skin and the body can’t shed it fast enough, it can harden in and on top of your pores. This grouping of keratin cells create these rough patches that feel like sandpaper on the skin.

What does it look like? What is it caused by? Why do I have it?
It’s hard to specifically pinpoint who gets this and why, but know that it is super common, not contagious, and not life threatening. Studies have suggested that if you have eczema or dry skin, your body is already prone to having a build up of keratin and therefore more likely to experience Keratosis Pilaris. Genetics also play a role, so if your parents have it, it’s more likely you’ll experience it as well.
